About the CoFish Website
In the 80ties of the last century the Fisheries Development Advisers of the EU member states met for the first time in Brussels. Main objective for meeting was to establish a network of fisheries development experts in the EU member states to exchange information and expertise and to strengthen cooperation the field of fisheries development in the South. This objective is still valid today . Communication technology development has made it possible to communicate far more easy and in a much more advanced way. Nevertheless there is still a need to meet once in a while to discuss issues of common concern.
This COFISH website is created in support of the Fisheries Development Advisers meeting of 2008, a meeting which by now is not limited to representatives of the EU anymore. The meeting has become a more open international forum, but still with the focus on international cooperation in support of fisheries development & management in the South. This website is also meant as a start for the development of an inter-active knowledge platform combining existing information networks and systems of partner institutions working in the fisheries sector in west Africa.
